Tikhonov to return to the coyotes...

Postby PHXyotes on Tue Mar 09, 2010 3:56 pm

Since the team that Tikhonov was loaned to over in Russia has not made the playoffs. Tikhonov will be on his way back to the valley. Interesting to see where he will end up since our roster has now been able to be expanded. I expect him to be sent to the AHL for the remainder of the season. I would like to see Brett MacLean get some ice time before Tik because he is putting up some pretty impressive numbers done in the AHL. Let me know what you think

Stick him on Noki's line. Let him play where Korpi plays. If he can play better, than we can sit Korpi. I see them playing a very similar role anyway, but maybe Tikhonov has better offensive upside being a bigger player.

Thats all Korpi has is speed and defensive talents. At least Tikhonov was putting up goals and assists when he was with the squad last year. I would be furious if we didn't let Tiks have a game or two before sending him down for a guy like Korps.

he also hits and kills penalties, thats what that line is for its just a checking line, I honestly dont think tik will be hammering in goals on a grinding line

Fair point.

I still think Tiks needs a few games. Evaluate him. See what he can do. He's already going to be on the team. I don't expect him to get long minutes, I don't think any of us do. But with the trends, you score from the minor league, you get sent down anyways. :palm:

Maloney said earlier on that Tikhonov will be coming to Phoenix not san antonio. Lets see if he changes his mind.

This is true id love to see him give Tik a chance but i dont know if it will happen. The KHL is a much different style of play than North American hockey. I know he has played here and it shouldnt take him long to get back into the grove of things, but i do think a few games down in the AHL before we bring him up woould be good for him and the team

We're heading down the stretch for a playoff run and Tippet is suddenly going to insert Tik into the lineup? Right.

Actually, I think MacLean is excelling in large part due to Turris, so If they bring Mac up, they should bring Turris up as well IMO. Hmmm, sit Pyatt and Korp for those two? Might be an interesting idea...as long as they include a bodyguard (Biz)

We've done enough stinking tinkering. We need gel and forward moving chemistry and we don't need Tik right now. Send him to Texas and let him find some chemistry with Turris and MacLean. The Rampage need some talent after Porter and Kolarik were sent packing.
Korpikoski is a better all-around player than Tik at this stage and his defensive acumen is more important to us heading into this all-important final stretch.
This pack of dogs could be the most successful regular season squad in this franchise's history. How bizarre to write that!
So let the lads continue to click with Stempniak and Wolski (Morris should fairly easily slide back into his old skin) but don't keep adding guys if we don't have to.

I'll take Korpi any day of the week over Tikhonov.
Balsillie is officially not relevant. Adios!!!
