Season series:
The New York Islanders swept a two-game series against the Arizona Coyotes in 2014-15. Brock Nelson had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 victory at Nassau Coliseum on Feb. 24.

Coyotes team scope:
This is the second of a four-game road trip for Arizona, which dropped a 5-2 decision at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. "For everyone here, it's going to be their first time," forward Anthony Duclair said of playing in Brooklyn. "It's going to be pretty cool to play in the Barclays Center, and I'm just pretty excited to go see [how] it is." Arizona centers Martin Hanzal and Boyd Gordon did not practice Sunday for what coach Dave Tippett termed "maintenance days." Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann skated prior to practice but will not play against the Islanders because of a lower-body injury. A decision on whether Mike Smith or Anders Lindback will start in goal will be made Monday morning. The Coyotes recalled forward Craig Cunningham from Springfield of the American Hockey League on Sunday. He has five goals and nine points in 12 AHL games. Forward Steve Downie is out because of an upper-body injury.

Islanders team scope:
New York returns home after going 2-1-0 on a three-game trip to California that was capped by a 4-1 win at the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Nelson has rewarded coach Jack Capuano with a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists) since being promoted to the top line alongside center John Tavares and right wing Kyle Okposo. "It's good to see him shoot the puck," Capuano said of Nelson. "It's one thing he's been working on in his game. He's playing well, he's playing with some confidence. I think that line has got some chemistry. We're gonna need him." Jaroslav Halak likely will get the start in goal. He is 4-4-1 with a 1.90 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
