Season series: The Vancouver Canucks and Arizona Coyotes have split two games this season, with each won by the road team. Arizona captain Shane Doan scored twice in a 3-2 victory at Rogers Arena on Jan. 4. Daniel Sedin had the game-winner in Vancouver's 4-3 win at Gila River Arena on Oct. 30.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver goaltender Ryan Miller is likely to start Wednesday after backup Jacob Markstrom made 29 saves in a 3-1 victory at the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. However, the Canucks may be without center Brandon Sutter and defenseman Alexander Edler, each of whom left with an injury and didn't return. Sutter was cut when he was hit in the face by a puck, Edler took a puck to the ankle. "It's tough," coach Willie Desjardins said. "Both of them we'll have to evaluate [Wednesday] to make sure where we're at, but it looks like it might be a little bit of time for both of them."

Coyotes team scope: Center Tyler Gaudet is back for his third stint with Arizona after being recalled Tuesday to replace Boyd Gordon, who sustained an upper-body injury blocking a shot against the Chicago Blackhawks last Thursday. "I'm interested to see what he can do," coach Dave Tippett told the Coyotes website after practice, in which he skated on a line with Viktor Tikhonov and Kyle Chipchura, a line that's likely to stay together against the Canucks. "This is a great opportunity for a young player. This could be a turning point in his career." Doan enters the game with 928 career points, one shy of Dale Hawerchuk's Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets record. He needs one goal to reach 20 for the 13th time in his career. The Coyotes have lost four in a row and play their next three games against Pacific Division teams; they are 11-4-2 within their division.
