GLENDALE - The Coyotes will host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night - a game that will be televised nationally by NBC Sports Network. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Arizona time.

Arizona (2-6-0) will be looking to rebound from a 3-2 home loss to Colorado on Saturday that evened its record at Gila River Arena this season at 1-1-0.

Louis Domingue is expected to start in goal for the Coyotes in place of Mike Smith, who skated for the first time on Monday since suffering a lower-body injury on Oct. 18. Domingue has allowed at least three goals in each of his six games this season.

Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who leads the team and all NHL defensemen with five goals, will enter the game with a three-game point streak. Forward Max Domi has a four-game point streak, all assists.

The Coyotes on Monday assigned center Christian Dvorak to the American Hockey League, so look for Dylan Strome, who cannot be assigned to the AHL, to get more playing time. Strome has appeared in just three of the first eight games as the team acclimates him to the NHL.

Defenseman Michael Stone is considered questionable. He is nursing an upper-body injury suffered last Thursday vs. Philadelphia.

Arizona is struggling on special teams this season. The Coyotes rank 28th in the NHL on the power play at 10.7 percent and 27th on the penalty kill at 72.4 percent.

"On the PK, I don't mind the structure of what we're doing," Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "There's a few corrections that we can continue to make but in the end, you need some saves there, too. And the power play, our breakout and some of those things have been pretty good. It's just a matter of finding the opportunities in the offensive zone. We haven't generated enough there, so we'll continue to work away on that."

San Jose (6-3-0) has won three games in a row and allowed just three goals during that span.

The Sharks won a franchise-record 28 road games last season en route to winning the Western Conference title, but so far this season they've won only two of five.

Captain Joe Pavelski leads the team with 11 points and co-leads with four goals.

Defenseman Brent Burns already has launched 45 shots goal this season to lead the NHL in that category, but he will enter the game with just one point in the past four games.

Martin Jones is expected to start in goal. He owns a 5-3-0 record, a 2.15 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

Forward Mikkel Boedker, who played 445 games for the Coyotes from 2008-16, has notched one goal in his first nine games with the Sharks. Tonight he will make his first appearance at Gila River Arena since leaving Arizona last season via trade.

It would be nice to get a win against a Western Conference team (or any team that is not the Flyers), let's hope they can pull a victory out of their arses tonight :P

Alas, poor Dvorak was sent to the AHL, so he won't be on the roster (but will be getting more TOI in Tucson with wingers that actuallly try to score points).
