LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The team failed to reach a signed lease agreement with trustees of the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland after a bitter dispute with the buildings trustees that eventually ended up in court.

The end result is The Pirates have a new home.

The ice inside the Colisee in Lewiston is all ready to go, complete with the Portland Pirates logo. the Pirates were getting ready to play the first few games here in Lewiston but now they'll be playing the entire season here. Portland's loss is Lewiston's gain. Fans and the business community here already to embrace the team. How much they embrace the Pirates will determine the future of the team here according to ownership.

"We'll now let the fans of this region determine how we should best proceed for the future. We need this community support but we intend to earn it", said Pirates' CEO Brian Petrovek.

There's no question it will be tough economically making a go of it up here for the Pirates. The arena seats only about 3,800 a few thousand fewer than the Civic Center. The Pirates say they will reduce the ticket prices with most seats costing around 10 bucks in an attempt to fill the building for 38 games.
