Pirates continue to evaluate as training camp winds down

SACO – The Portland Pirates failed to pick up a victory during the preseason, but head coach Ray Edwards still found plenty of things to be pleased about.

I am not sure why but I don't hold high hopes for the Pirates this season. They seem thin up the middle and are extremely young. If I am not confused, I believe there are like five players on the roster who have three or more years of pro experience. While the AHL is a development league, the green hue of the Pirates may make for a long season. Hope I am wrong. May Andy Miele shed his puppy skin and become a top 20 scorer in the AHL.
