Shortie — that was great!

Corrosion of Conformity's last album… Monster Magnet… and I'm re-exploring some old Amon Duul II… Mark Knopfler's new release with whathername and David Gilmour's new album.

Spent many hours on YouTube last night checking out old metal videos. Started with an Iron Maiden search, wandered through the hair bands, detoured through classic thrash and some punk, then ended up playing air guitar along with Pearl Jam and Neil Young just ripping it up doing Rocking in the Free World. Before I knew it it was 2:00 in the morning. What a beautiful waste of time.

Heard the past few days in the house:
Raconteurs
Neil Young (Living with War)
Ben Harper (Both Sides of the Gun)? don't remember exact title
Paste's newest sampler CD
TV on the Radio (Deperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes)
Widespread Panic (bootleg trade)
Sleater Kinney (The Woods)
Broken Social Scene
Dave Douglas (Freak In)
Charlie Hunter (Friends Seen and Unseen and Songs From the Analog Playground)
Arctic Monkey
Miles and Mingus are ALWAYS on. Somehow, someway they get airtime no matter how crowded the listening schedule is. Music is the background in our house, not the T.V.

In the car the past two days:
Metallica - Puppets/Lightning
Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
Mastodon - Leviathan
Gambo and Ash

- Hey Earthpig, Knopfler kicks AsS. The missus and I are digging the new release with whatshername (Emmylou).

1992 release of Dio's 'Best Of'. Old - Yes...but still one of my all-time favorites.

When Dio announced that he would do a solo project, nobody expected much of the former front man of Rainbow and Black Sabbath. All too often, solo projects mean songs of a different nature. Song ideas that had not been included in the previous bands, because the material was too different or not 'good enough'.

So when Dio's 'Holy Diver' was released in the early '80s, I was totally blown away by how good the song and the album truly was. I got a chance to see Dio in concert in Hannover, Germany and it remains one of the best concerts I have ever had the pleassure to attend. Back then, laser shows were just starting to become a hit. The one he had kicked a$$!

Today, I listened to 'Diamonds' while cleaning the bathroom. These pounding tunes make even this nasty chore fun... ;)
