I think the vuvuzelas next logical transition is to hockey. I will be the proud owner of 2 maroon ones and will be louder this season than last.

While I agree with your verdict on the team effort, I think it's a bit harsh to pick out Rooney (unless you meant for his ill-judged comments to camera at the final whistle). The formation clearly isn't working; for me he needs to go 4-5-1 with Gerrard (wasted out wide on the left) just behind Rooney, who's played the role of lone striker for United this year. Then Joe Cole could play left midfield. Heskey's presence just seems to encourage us to play too direct, and Rooney to drop off too far into the midfield where he too is wasted. Capello seems too stubborn to waiver from his 4-4-2 though.

everytime he touches the ball he gives it away, his first touch is awful (Rooney) . Maybe having him playing behind a front man like crouch or Defoe would work. I agree about Cole, Lennon and Wright Phillips arent really achieving much so why not roll the dice on him.

Ran across this today... I also do not look forward to the Vuvus although I still have an old one from the IHL Roadrunners days around here somewhere... I don't think we called them vuvzelas though... just plastic horns.

I really hope the vuvuzelas don't make it into NHL arenas...that would be a nightmare. They are bad enough outside, those things would drive me crazy inside a building.

I like the vuvuzelas. The horns bring a South African flair to the matches of the 2010 World Cup. I guess the instrument and it's sound is either loved or hated but I don't foresee great numbers of them at any and all sporting events around the world following the World Cup. They've been around for years and this has not happened. My guess: It'll be a fad.

Enjoy it while it lasts...

Just in case anyone gets any funny ideas...the first vusxucdula that shows up at a coyotes game will be removed from its owner and made flat.

I don't give a damn about any south african cutural whatever. I don't enjoy the sound of buzzing bees all game. Annoying is annoying, regardless of the origin of the annoyingness.

I think its pretty apparent from the worlds reaction that theyre ridiculous, if they were just in games involving south africa or other african nations fine, but every game is just annoying.

My vuvuzela is en route! My mom will bring one from Europe when she comes to visit us in August.

I don't see myself using it (much) but I *need* to have one. Image
