phew, England and US scrape through, very unimpressive!

Now England probably get Germany if they beat Ghana today, and the US get Serbia or Ghana.

England v Germany on Sunday it is, can't wait

Saying that, we'll have to play a lot better than we have done so far to beat them, they've looked good so far.

Just hope you get the Germany that played against Serbia rather than the one that played against Australia.

The USA v. Ghana match should be interesting. Should be a win for USA, but the inability to finish inside the 18, is really going to backfire for us one of these days.

While the result was expected in the England Germany game, the way we got there was rather disappointing, oh what could have been had the referee's been doing there job when Lampard scored, after that, England were forced to take chances and got burned for it. Another World Cup, another disappointment!

It only took 44 years for the make-up call (or non-call in this case).

Well beaten today, the 'goal' was terrible officiating and shows the need for video technology for that area of the sport, but I'm not sure it'd have made a difference to the end result. Germany were far superior and just play better football, coupled with England's appalling defensive display we didn't have much chance. Clueless, and as you say Golly, yet another disappointment.

So true.

I don't relish the fact that the goal was not awarded correctly. Without a doubt, it should have been. That said, to Football-Germany this has to feel like karma. With Wembley in mind, this could not have happened in a more fitting way: at a World Cup tournament and `tween these two nations.

This is football. Aside from the missed goal, the better team deservedly won and the English are going home never having played convincingly at the tournament. None of that has anything to do with the good goal that did not stand.

Auf geht's, Deutschland!

Zee Germans definitely deserved the win. Tough break on the missed goal, but as a team the English never came together. Germany is poised for a good run at the trophy. I wonder how scary they would be with Ballack on the squad. Can't wait for the Spain/Portugal match though. The winner of that will carry some serious momentum into the next phase. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I agree they deserved the win in the end, but I think the game would have been very different had the goal that never was would have been rightly allowed.

Against all odds... Germany tosses Argentina from the tournament. Never thought that it would be that convincing a performance against one of the powerhouses in international football.

Not getting ahead of myself, taking it one game at a time. Mueller will be out in the semi final match due to his second booking. He's been very important to the German game throughout the tournament. I hope they make the final!

I wouldn't say that was against all odds, I thought Germany'd get the result today (not just because of Paul the Psychic Octopus either). They're stacked up front, but the Argies' defence has looked shaky all the way through, but never been tested. They come up against some quality and get taken to the cleaners. Well played Germany (never thought I'd say that... :puke:  ).
